Teaching

Our Department offers accredited bachelor and masters programmes. We consider individual choice and the personal mentoring of our students extremely important. Our research-orientated educational philosophy “General Mechanical Engineering” emphasises the well-founded education in foundations and methods, while also leaving plenty of room for project work and cross-disciplinary functions. We regularly achieve excellent results in independent rankings.

Research

Our subject areas perform very successful research across the whole spectrum of Mechanical Engineering, from ergonomics to fluid mechanics, from flight dynamics to power plant technology. Our expertise is recognised nationally and internationally, and we are one of the successful locations in the national excellence initiative and in the state of Hessen. In addition, we have many years of outstanding relationships with industry, as well as several large Collaborative Research Centres and Research Training Groups. With over 600 doctoral and postdoctoral candidates, we have plenty of excellent people.
