The TU Darmstadt is involved in the “Forum Organic Electronics” cluster, which was one of the first-round winners of the top cluster competition run by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. The academics at the TU Darmstadt will work predominantly with the highly relevant research area of printed electronics.

The research project can build on the competence in paper and printing technologies, which are combined in Darmstadt in a unique way, and on existing cooperation relationships, such as with the printing machinery manufacturer Heidelberg. Industrial partners include Merck, BASF, SAP, Pepperl+Fuchs, Bosch, PolyIC, Heidelberg and Copaco. The TU Darmstadt’s sub-project is being funded with around 2.5 million euros. Part of this is used to fund eight additional academic collaborators.
