2026/03/30

Congratulations to our doctoral graduate and postdoc Dr. Dominik Klein on receiving the Dr.-Klaus-Körper Prize of the GAMM for the best doctoral theses in applied mathematics and mechanics in 2025!

Award of the Dr.-Klaus-Körper Prize at the 96th GAMM Annual Meeting

At the opening ceremony of the 96th Annual Meeting of GAMM (International Association of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics) in Stuttgart on March 16, 2026, our doctoral graduate and current postdoctoral researcher Dr. Dominik Klein was awarded the Dr.-Klaus-Körper Prize. The prize recognizes the outstanding achievements of four young scientists in the fields of applied mathematics and mechanics.

Dr. Klein received the award for his dissertation, Polyconvex Hyperelasticity with Neural Networks: On Invariant- and Coordinate-Based Models, Benefits and Limitations, which he successfully defended at the Mechanical Engineering Department at TU Darmstadt in October 2025. We warmly congratulate Dominik on this excellent achievement, which acknowledges his important academic contributions to physics-augmented neural network material models!

This recognition is also a special honor for Prof. Oliver Weeger and the entire Cyber-Physical Simulation team and the Graduate School Computational Engineering, whose shared research environment and support have helped foster these outstanding contributions.
