At the Institute for numerical methods in fluid mechanics, we focus on the development and analysis of computer-aided methods for calculating single- and multiphase flows and their implementation on heterogeneous computing systems. In addition to investigating approaches to interface coupling and computing on graphics cards, we are further developing both deterministic and statistical methods for solving high-dimensional transport equations, thereby enabling the use of statistical models for turbulent flows and multiphase flows in practice
