On 01.02.2021 the new research project “CyberTech – Advanced Systems Engineering for the work design of cyber-technical systems” started at the DiK under the direction of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Reiner Anderl. The project, which is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) within the program "Innovations for tomorrow's production, services and work” and supervised by the Project Management Agency Karlsruhe (PTKA), pursues the goals of the German government's High-Tech Strategy 2025. Over the next 3 years, topics for the control of complex system developments will be researched, considering the effects on socio-technical systems.
The chosen approach of Advanced Systems Engineering (ASE) extends the model-based Systems Engineering (SE) and integrates interdisciplinary system models to media break-free, digitally continuous product development processes. Development approaches are being worked out in which digital services and business models are already taken into account at an early stage of product development. In addition, the further development and individual adaptation of service profiles beyond the product development phases will be considered for the market-related product lifecycle phases.
Challenges here also lie in the development of new forms of work and organization incorporating the human-centered approach. In addition, product usage data is to be collected via the concepts of the digital twin and made available to build up knowledge for subsequent product generations.
The holistic approach combines the goals of engineering, occupational science and business management. The consortium, led by engineering methods AG, includes the Department of Computer Integrated Design (DiK), the Institute of Ergonomics at the Technical University of Darmstadt (IAD), the consortium partners Woco Industrietechnik GmbH, Mechatronic AG, ESI ITI and associated partners such as Fresenius Medical Care Deutschland GmbH. Through the joint project AdWiSE as well as the ASE program of the German Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech), the project is in close exchange with other relevant project initiatives.
