The organizational requirements for the use of product data management systems (PDM systems) are also addressed. In addition, an overview of the architecture of PDM systems and the underlying database technologies is given. Practical application examples based on real PDM systems will also be shown to illustrate this.

The course Virtual Product Development B: Product Data Management (ViP-B) will be offered as a regular classroom course in summer term 2022. Depending on the (short-term) regulatory requirements regarding the pandemic, online teaching will be resorted to. In this case, the lecture will be digitally transmitted and supplemented by additional digital materials such as demonstrations and exercises.
