Addressing the challenges of turbulent premixed hydrogen combustion modeling

2021/02/16 by

Our group’s postdoctoral researcher Dr. Xu Wen received the EU-funded Marie Sklodowska-Curie Action (MSCA) Individual Fellowship.

The aim of the project is to develop numerical models for turbulent premixed hydrogen combustion. This project is closely related to the European hydrogen strategy and bares high importance for a climate-neutral future. Starting from July 1st of this year, the project will be mainly conducted at CORIA-CNRS, University of Rouen Normandy under the supervision of host Profs. Pascale Domingo and Luc Vervisch. In the meantime, the research will be carried out at ITV of RWTH Aachen University, with Lukas Berger under the supervision of Prof. Heinz Pitsch.

Dr. Wen joined the STFS as a Humboldt research fellow in 2018. His research interests are mainly on developing numerical models for pulverized coal combustion within the SFB/TRR 129 project as well as for turbulent flames with hydrogen addition within the Humboldt project.
