Application Procedure
Exchange and double degree programs

Would you like to study at one of our partner universities in the form of an exchange or a double degree program? Then you will find all the important information about applying to the department here.

Important Notice:

Due to shifts and changes in the number of places offered by our partner universities as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and its aftermath, there may still be restrictions in the availability of places, especially for places that are frequently requested.

It is therefore advisable to spread your preferred country and region widely and make use of all five preferences.

Application to the Department

Applications for the academic year 2025 (winter semester 2024/25 and summer semester 2025) can only be submitted via move-on in the MechCenter from October 15 up to and including November 30th, 2023.

Attention: the Future Leaders Scholarships and the Hesse Program have different deadlines.

The following application documents must be submitted:

  • Online application form of the Unit of International Relations and Mobility
  • Motivation letter (only one page in total! This also applies if you are applying for several universities).
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Your current transcript of records (Bachelor and Master; a web transcript of records generated in TUCaN is sufficient)
  • Language certificates (high school diploma, if applicable; does not have to be notarised)
  • Overview(s) of planned study project abroad

Further information can be found in the presentations on “Studying abroad” in the download area for each degree program in the “Studying abroad” section.

Application Deadline

From October 15th to November 30th 2023, you can submit your application for an exchange place for WiSe 2024/25 and SoSe 2025 at the department. The application is now processed completely via move-on. You no longer need to send us any documents by email.

Selection of Students

Students are selected on the basis of their application documents. Criteria such as motivation, aptitude, social commitment, and study plans are taken into account as well as previous academic achievements. A selection committee uses this to draw up a ranking. Based on this, the available places are allocated to the students.

Exception!

For our partner universities in North America and the Future Leaders Scholarship Program at Asian universities, the result of a mandatory interview continues to determine the allocation of places.
