Development and implementation of a closed-loop control system for joining using the rotary swaging process

The integration of optical sensors into metallic pipe structures requires high positioning accuracy to ensure reliable measurement values. The rotary swaging process is particularly suitable for the force- and form-fitting insertion of sensors, as it enables precise and controllable forming.
As part of this thesis, a method for the precise integration of optical sensors into pipes is to be implemented using a self-developed rotary swaging system. To achieve the required accuracy, a control system for the joining process is to be developed and implemented in LabVIEW.
The following work packages may be part of the thesis. The specific tasks will be developed in a joint discussion:
- Familiarisation with rotary swaging, closed loop control and LabView
- Implementation of a method for the position-accurate integration of optical sensors in pipes using a self-developed rotary swaging system
- Evaluation of the results to validate the closed loop control
