Numerical Simulation Methods

The lecture provides a practical introduction to numerical methods for simulating continuum mechanics problems, as they typically occur in mechanical engineering applications. The use of computer-aided simulation methods is firmly established in industrial practice in the product development process. The basics of modeling, discretization and solution algorithms are taught and important questions of accuracy, efficiency and cost-effectiveness for practice are discussed. The most important application areas from fluid and structural mechanics and heat transfer are also covered.

Winter term 2024-2025

The lecture was previously offered by Prof. Schäfer (FNB) and will be taught for the first time by Prof. Weeger in the summer semester 2025.

There will also be a written examination at the end of the winter semester of 2024/2025.
