Isogeometric analysis of inelastic beam structures
Our latest article on “Mixed isogeometric collocation for geometrically exact 3D beams with elasto-visco-plastic material behavior and softening effects” was just published in CMAME.
The design of slender structures such as additively manufactured lattices or cables requires efficient numerical simulation methods, which can take large deformations and inelastic material behavior into account. In this work, in collaboration with Dominik Schillinger and Ralf Müller from the at TU Darmstadt, we developed a geometrically nonlinear, shear-deformable 3D beam formulation with inelastic material behavior and its numerical discretization by a mixed isogeometric collocation method.
