Influence of process parameters on material properties in MSLA 3D printing

Congratulations to our doctoral researcher Iman Valizadeh for the publication of his latest article in the Additive Manufacturing journal

In the latest article by our doctoral researcher Iman Valizadeh, which was just published in the journal “Additive Manufacturing”, we investigated the impact of user-controllable process parameters in grayscale masked stereolithography (gMSLA), a polymer 3D printing method.

By unifying these parameters into a single controllable parameter, we developed elasto-visco-plastic constitutive models to describe the mechanical behavior and also model geometric deviations. This allows for optimized process parameters, enabling the engineering design of parts with controllable and graded mechanical behaviors and reliable geometric dimensions. By selecting the right parameter set, print time can be significantly reduced without affecting the mechanical behavior.
