Academic collaborators: they form the backbone of research and teaching at any university. Several hundred of them work under professors in the subject areas and research groups in the Department of Mechanical Engineering in Darmstadt. Most are doctoral and postdoctoral candidates. They are hired under various types of contract, either temporary or indefinite, or receive support through scholarships and grants.

Information on available positions for academic collaborators is available on the individual subject area websites or in the Department job bank and the TU Darmstadt job bank.

Dissertations and habilitation are subject to the general Doctoral Studies Regulations (opens in new tab) of the TU Darmstadt and the Habilitation Regulations (opens in new tab) and their Rules of Implementation (opens in new tab) of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. You will also find information on the admission requirements and required qualifications in these documents. Depending on the degree, doctoral studies can be completed at the Department of Mechanical Engineering for the titles Dr.-Ing., Dr. rer. nat. or Dr. phil.
