Lars Arnemann studied Mechanical and Process Engineering (MPE) at TU Darmstadt. During his master studies, Mr. Arnemann visited TEC de Monterrey (Campus Querétaro, Mexico), which is a strategic partner of TU Darmstadt. There he also did his project internship and designed a universal device for leak testing. In his master’s thesis, he developed a concept for the integration of perspectives of digital twins into the development of cyber-physical products.

In August 2021, Mr. Arnemann was hired as a research associate at DiK and is in charge of the project “DiNaPro – Digitalization of Sustainable Production Networks”.

Mr. Arnemann supervises the lecture and exercise “Basics CAE/CAD” which includes an introduction to virtual product development. The lecture focuses on computer-aided design and advanced CAx process chains.

The research project “DiNaPro – Model-based digitalization of sustainable production networks along the product life cycle” is a project funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The goal is to optimize environmental sustainability in the product creation process by means of a uniform data model and data exchange format in the form of an integral digital twin technology. Over a period of three years, assistance systems will be developed to improve the quality of decision-making in various use cases. A particular focus will be on increasing environmental and social sustainability.

The research consortium is led by DiK and includes the Institute for Produktionsmanagement, Technologie und Werkzeugmaschinen (PTW), the development partners in-integrierte informationssysteme GmbH, etalytics GmbH and DSC Software AG as well as the application partners Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG, Munsch Chemie-Pumpen GmbH and Opel Automobile GmbH.

  • Development of sustainability monitoring by means of a key figure methodology for assessing sustainability in product development (Master's thesis)
  • Development of a methodology for feeding back data from digital twins into product development (Master's thesis)
  • Sustainability assessment and potential analysis for small and medium-sized enterprises (Bachelor's thesis)
  • Development of measures to meet sustainability requirements in product development (Bachelorthesis)
  • Use of cloud computing to realise sustainability benefits in SMEs (Bachelorthesis)
  • Use of generative design/AI in the sustainable product development process (Bachelorthesis)
  • Development of an app for balancing CO2 emission data of a 3D printer (project work)
