Konzeptionelle und numerische Entwicklung einer Regelung zum Profilrichten beim flexiblen T-Profilwalzen

Conceptual and numerical development of a control system for profile straightening in flexible T-profile rolling

Research Associate, Masterthesis

As part of an industrial research project at PtU, a control system for profile straightening in flexible T-profile rolling is to be developed. This process was newly developed at the PtU in order to apply variable thicknesses to T-profiles over their length. One potential application of the process is stringers (stiffening profiles) in aircraft fuselages. Profile defects such as curvatures occur during the rolling process. By adjusting the process parameters (rolling gap), the profiles can be straightened on the basis of known relationships. In order to automate the straightening process, the outgoing curvature and the roll gap should be measured. These serve as input variables for the control.

As part of this work, a controlled rolling process for T-profiles is to be developed and numerically simulated. Furthermore, a sensor concept for measuring the actual geometry and the roll gap is to be developed.

I will be happy to answer any questions regarding the task and discuss the contents. If the thesis is very successful, there is the possibility of employment as a research assistant at the PtU.

Also approved for aerospace engineering.
