Calibration of damage models for longitudinal profile rolling

Masterthesis, Bachelorthesis

Longitudinal profile rolling can be used, for example, to cold form double-T profiles. In this forming process, the material is subjected to severe plastic deformation in order to achieve the desired final geometry. However, the damage-free formability of steel materials is severely limited. For this reason, damage models are playing an increasingly important role in process design. To apply such a model, the existing cold rolling process is analyzed with regard to the stresses acting on it, and then a suitable damage model is parameterized on the basis of various calibration tests, which are carried out both experimentally and by simulation.

The work comprises the following work packages, which can be discussed in more detail in a personal meeting:

  • Determination of the failure-critical stress-strain state
  • Derivation of suitable calibration tests
  • Conducting and validating the calibration tests
