I'll be sharing insights on Metal Energy – using metals like iron as sustainable energy carriers.
From the system-level potential to the scientific thermofluid dynamics challenges, there's a lot to discuss – and even more to achieve.
Metal Energy is gaining incredible momentum – and the potential in the Asia-Pacific region is massive. Retrofitting existing coal plants in a climate-neutral way could cut global CO₂ emissions by 20%. Even if we can realize only part of this potential in the coming years, it would be a major step toward achieving net-zero emissions by 2045–2050.
With 80% of global primary energy demand still met by fossil energy, we must move fast – and embrace every promising solution.
In Germany, negotiations for a new government are currently underway. I am convinced that innovative energy storage solutions, such as metals – and iron in particular – will be recognized as key building blocks for effective climate action.
