UTC Review Karlsruhe

Like every year, a review meeting of the German University Technology Centres (UTC) with the partners Rolls-Royce Germany and German Aerospace Center (DLR) took place in April. This year, the research institutions and partners were hosted by KIT in Karlsruhe.

Once a year, Rolls-Royce Germany presents the State of the Nation to its university partners, kicking off the University Technology Centre (UTC) Review, a two-day event at which partnered research institutions present the latest results of their collaborative projects. The personal character of the event encourages productive discussion among the partners, and exchange on possible synergies.

The TU Darmstadt UTC includes researchers from the mechanical engineering institutes Gas Turbines and Aerospace Propulsion (GLR), Reactive Flows and Diagnostics (RSM) and Simulation of Reactive Thermo-Fluid Systems (STFS). This year, STFS presented the latest findings on numerical simulations of thermoacoustics, soot formation and evolution, CO emissions, and hydrogen combustion in aero-gas turbines, highlighting some of the most relevant aspects in the development of gas turbine combustors
