Your Route to TU Darmstadt

The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers a broad, universal, and well-founded education with a typical study period of six semesters for the bachelor's programmes.

We regularly organise various orientation events, which can be tailored to your individual interests.

In the bachelor's programme Mechanical Engineering at the TU Darmstadt, you will get to know the essential tools of the engineering world and will already be able to apply them in project work.

The principles of sustainability, safety and resource-efficient, ecologically friendly behaviour are essential to all project courses, method-mediating courses and application-oriented courses, as well as a number of basic subjects in our bachelor’s programme “Mechanical Engineering – Sustainable Engineering”. Thus, you will be taught to be mindful of your responsibility towards people and the environment throughout your studies.

Mathematical and mechanical knowledge is complemented by topics in computer science, materials science, mechatronics, computer-aided design, thermodynamics and many more. In the elective area there is the possibility of putting together a personal combination of in-depth subjects from almost 30 different courses in order to be best equipped with specialist knowledge for your first scientific paper, the bachelor's thesis.
